Thursday 4 February

Thursday morning already.  I haven’t made any comments for a couple of days because I have been feeling a bit under the weather.  It was Tuesday’s activity, I suppose.  Found that I had just sufficent time to deliver a round of leaflets, like you do, when I was at the furthest point from the car and it started to drizzle heavily.  It seems to be a particular type of rain to Yorkshire when drizzle of this intensity can soak you to the skin in seconds!  Anyway this was even worse as it then started to snow.  I decided that there was no point in abandoning the delivery and continued back to the car, cold and wet.  That’s politics for you!!

Then off to Outlane to meet with colleagues and a Highways officer to discuss a pedestrian crossing.  Why is it that there are times when the “blinding” obvious can be so obscure to officers and so difficult to implement.  The snow continued apace, so I went home and had a warming bath.

Wednesday started off dull and cold – will this winter never end.  Off the Fire HQ for the Chief’s Executive Strategy meeting.  Interesting.  In the evening, despite the warnings of snowfall it was back to Fire HQ for the annual awards evening.  It is really amazing to meet people who have behaved with such selfless and exemplory bravery.  An outstanding evening.

Thursday morning – foggy, miserable and cold.  WE NEED SOME SUNSHINE.
